Please stay with it as it is a work in progress beta for the moment.
Anyway v0.2 released to market and extensions with a better explanation on how to setup and use PhoneMarks.
If you didn't catch it or read it follow these instructions;
- Install the Chrome Extension.
- Create a folder within your bookmarks called 'Mobile Bookmarks'.
- Add a bookmark to this folder.
- Sync your bookmarks - and authorise access to your GoogleDocs.
- Install the Android Application.
- Link your Google account with the application.
- Hit Sync!
PhoneMarks should now sync. It will also handle folders within the Mobile Bookmarks folder, prefixing them within your phones bookmark lists!
Once this release is stable, I'll get on with the background (automatic) and Phone to Chrome updates.
Enjoy....
When I try to sync from the phone (motorolla droid) it says "Unable to download Phonemarks. File not found." Also, the extension at top of screen reads: "Last Updated at: checking phone marks please wait." and sync/refresh/delete options are grey and unavailable for use.
ReplyDeleteHi Christian,
ReplyDeleteThe error is with the Google Extension not creating the PhoneMarks file within your GoogleDocs area.
Have you authorised the application to access your GoogleDocs and are using the same account on the phone? Have you created a 'Mobile Bookmarks' folder and added a bookmark to it?
I updated the Extension today to display additional messages when there are no bookmarks found (v0.2.1) - this may solve your problem.
If you are still having problems, please let me know and I'll investigate further.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI have exactly the same problem as described by Christian!
When I tried the first Version, I didn't get what was meant by "Mobile Bookmarks" and the extensions freezes to this state.
After I've read the update, I added a folder "Mobile Bookmarks" inside the folder "Weitere Lesezeichen" (using German chrome). Doesn’t change anything!
If I try to uninstall and reinstall the extension it will even start in this grey state with "Last Updated at: checking phone marks please wait."
So I think, I need to find out, how to really kill your extension before I can have another go.
Hi Heiko,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment. I have updated the extension to hopefully support international browsers and should solve your German browser.
While testing, I did notice that it require at least ONE document to be uploaded to your GoogleDocs.
Please let me know if this solves your problem.
